WILL I BE FINE?
Even in the well it is well
I recently came across the story of the Shunammite woman. A notable woman who fed and housed Elisha, and as a result of her hospitality Elisha asked Gehazi what they could do for her, and Gehazi told him ‘she has no son’.
Elisha prophesied to her that she would hold her son the next year, and she responded by telling Elisha not to deceive her.
Well, she conceived, but guess what, some years after her son died.
Bummer, I know right, but here’s where things get even more interesting.
After he died in her arms, she laid him on Elisha’s bed, closed the door and went to meet Elisha. Her husband not knowing his son was dead asked why and her response baffles me
“It is well”,
Like seriously, your son, the one you didn’t ask for, but was a child of prophecy died and you are saying ‘it is well’,
wow.
Well, on getting close to where Elisha was, He saw her and sent Gehazi ahead to ask her how her husband and child were doing and again she said
“it is well”,
This woman was strong, right?
But guess what, when she spoke to Elisha directly, she broke down and told him she didn’t ask for a son, and although she never said a word about his death, Elisha understood the assignment.
He immediately sent Gehazi to her son with his staff and specific instructions, but she refused to leave him saying “As the Lord lives, and as your soul lives, I will not leave you”,
like she basically threatened him, lol.
Thankfully Elisha followed her, because Gehazi reported that the child did not wake despite obeying the instructions he gave.
Elisha prayed for the child, laid on him twice, this little boy sneezed 7 times and woke up.
Elisha called his mom and she picked up her son.
Beautiful story yeah?
What is the purpose of me highlighting this story you may ask, well,
I was just reflecting on two things, her saying it is well and her being open before Elisha.
In this post, I’ll focus on the first point.
IT IS WELL
Out of curiosity, I checked the Hebrew word that translates to ‘it is well’ and it’s ‘Shalom’. Alongside Shalom meaning Peace, it means, unthreatened life, Gods’ wholeness, and much more.
Tribe, Is there something that seems to be dead, a tough battle, is it a process that is taking so long, a strain in relationship you cherish or even the slightest hurt or loss you are facing.
Well guess what, “it is well” I know you’ve probably heard it many times, but now is the time to believe it,
IT IS WELL.
Like the Shunammite woman, take this situation back to God, the one who led you, and even if you made a decision on your own, still take it to God with a sincere heart, don’t ever run from Him.
The father is in the business of restoration and would not leave His children stranded.
Tribe, take that burden, big or small and take it to the father, lay it at His feet and open your heart to Him, and let Him be your comfort and restore to you what has been broken, unclear or lost.
Tribe, I love you, and God loves you more❤️❤️
